There are moments in life, in a relationship, in a friendship where one or the other party involved realizes “it just ain’t workin’ out!”   Where you realize whatever you are involved in is simply “not cutting the mustard” anymore.  We are seeing the establishment Republicans playing the numbers over principle game, which got them into a pickle in the first place, by picking Scozzafava BECAUSE she is a liberal and a leftie and that is the only kind that can be voted in by the people of New York.  (Which is selling the citizens of New York rather short, isn’t it?) It is like watching generals fight the last war, again and again.   Have they not learned that given a choice between a leftie democrat and a leftie republican the voters might as well vote for the democrat?  Why should they risk the republican actually being forced to vote, yuck, republican!

It is a twisted logic the Republican establishment uses to justify many of  its decisions.  Instead of recognizing their missteps with the likes of McCain, they are instead doubling down.  And that will cost them elections.  It will cost them the Florida Senate for sure, as I will not vote for Crist, and I’m a staunch Republican in my voting record.  (Not so much in philosophy, as I am finding myself a bigger and bigger Constitutionalist, but the democrats are nutty than fruitbats and should not be allowed anywhere government, or for that matter, any sharp objects. )

Scozzafava is a mistake.  If her positions on unions, war, abortion, law, and other issues doesn’t disqualify her, then certainly her spooked rabbit personality should.  She called the cops on a reporter from the Weekly Standard?  Because he questioned her positions on the issues?  The cops?  No violence, no threats, no harm, but that didn’t stop a REPUBLICAN candidate from thinking she had the right to “sic the dogs” on a reporter?  That is more a Frank/Pelosi/Reid act than one of Republican.  Or, maybe not.  It seems to me the second she gets into office we will be “Snowe”d under with her crossing the aisle and have to deal with the “Specter” of her changing parties to stay in power.

This is not a time for weak people with weak standards and principles.  As a nation, we are in a world of hurt, and playing games like the Republican estalishment is doing, is a recipe for disaster.
