According to report a Nigerian attempted to detonate a device which failed to explode. A number of passengers “subdued” him. (Read jumped him and kicked his butt into next week.) The best part and something that never ceases to amaze me is the federal government leaped at the opportunity to remind us how on the ball they are.
“The man was apparently already on the government’s no-fly list of suspected terrorists, ABC News said a senior intelligence official told them.”
What??! You KNEW he might be trouble and he got on anyway? Oh, now I do have to apologize to the flying imams from Minnesota when I said you get what you ask for by acting suspiciously. Sorry, just because you are Muslim doesn’t mean you should cuss the country, pray out loud, ask for extenders and then basically freak out an entire plane. I don’t give a rat’s butt what religion you follow YOU DON’T live in a vacuum! How would Muslims feel if people started yelling how they hated Islam and began arming themselves while eyeing the imam with an evil look.
Overall, the Muslims in America have gotten a good ride. That is thanks to GWB and his faith and the overall good will of this nation’s citizens. In my opinion, a lesser man would have not been so insistent in reminding us how Islam is not the whole reason why we are at war with nutjobs. In addition, a lesser nation would succumb to the desire for vengeance and strike even deadlier blows against anyone of a different faith. Even though we’ve struck back, we’ve used as much restraint as our enemy will allow us. Now with Obama in charge we are backing off more than before as a open handed gesture for peace. Our reward? They are still trying to blow our people out of the sky.
Update: Pajamawmedia has a few updates on the attempted bombing of the plane. I can see they were thinking along the same lines as I was when the author pointed out where the terrorist was sitting. He located himself over a wing and a fuel cell. He wouldn’t have needed much to throw a blast into the fuel and let the fuel do the rest of the work. Smart.

Now they are saying he wasn’t on a watch list, just on a list of people who are linked to Al Qaeda. Ok. I guess there’s a difference. (Wait, I have to pause to hit my head on the table a couple of times… Ok, I’m back.) The suspect is a college student (so much for that argument that only the poor and oppressed turn to terrorism) and caught the flight from Nigeria to Amsterdam then to the U.S. I wonder where he got the cash for the ticket. The bomb is said to be a combination of liquid and powder, which is a little more sophisticated than just C4 and a fuse. I’ll wait to comment on that until the system is described in detail.
