The Democratic party has gathered their supporters by promising the moon and paying off voters with social programs. I course they all love the thought of socialism because in their minds it equates to free stuff. Now the few democrats who have their own jobs and still want socialism are either rich, guilt ridden, or think that “socialism” will affect others but not themselves.
Yes, silly, but then again how else would you describe voters who would constantly return the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Frank and Dodd to office again and again?
The hope of the Democratic Party is to build a party filled with people who are dependent on the government, thus guaranteeing a return to power every cycle for people like Rangel and others. The Republicans were trying to do the same thing toward the end their majority. In a sense they were trying to “out dem” the dems and failed miserably in doing so. Hopefully they learned their lesson.
With the growing legal and illegal Hispanic population and the serious courting of that segment by both parties, I’m afraid we are going to see more and not less in payoffs and programs. Not that we can take the hit, but doing the right thing seems to elude both parties. So hang on. This isn’t going to get any better until it breaks and we have to start all over.
