Hotair, which has tried to project Beck as a nutjob when he rants about the progressives in the Republican party being as bad as the progressives in the Democrat party, has to HATE moments like this.  Lindsey Graham is like the shark in Jaws.  Just about the time you think it is safe to get back into the water, here he comes looking to take a bite out of common sense and conservatism.   Hotair simply cannot keep up with the excuses this time.  Let me jump over to the site to see if they are commenting on this….  Yep, they covered it, in the softest sort of way.  Not really beating up on Graham for sinking yet another Constitutional ship.  Here’s the link if you dare- http://hotair.com/archives/2010/03/05/you-know-what-america-needs-now-a-brutal-political-battle-over-amnesty/

What is my problem with amnesty? Several simple issues.  First, I’ve met many illegals, mostly Mexicans and Guatemalans, and found them mostly decent people trying to take advantage of what America can offer.  They are willing to do anything to make money.  I’ve talked with business owners and they say they have trouble finding decent workers that will show up to work every day from the pool of white and black citizens and feel the Mexicans and others actually appreciate the work.   I agree.  Victor Davis Hanson over at Pajama Media has a great article about this issue of “entitlement” that our workers have developed.  We want to have everything handed to us without working hard to get it.  The people slipping across the border usually don’t have that problem, until the SECOND generation is born.

However, here’s the problem with ILLEGALS.  They are illegal!  They do not pay taxes correctly.  They DO take advantage of  the programs and free stuff, while sending their money they earned here out of the country to fund another economy.  That is a bad thing.  They also are here taking jobs that now a more humble work force would gladly have.  If we have twenty million people out of work and there are twelve million illegals working in the country, or now taking advantage of the federal programs because they aren’t working, it seems to me that removing the illegals from the country would free up jobs and reduce the drain on our broken system.  When we are rich and plentiful we should take care of others. However, when things get tight, we should take care of OUR people first.   The issue with having our money, needed to generate activity in our economy, the amount totals into the billions of dollars a year, being sent to another country to generate activity there is crazy.  The illegals do spend some money here, but the ones I talked with are very disciplined about saving and sending the money home.

And that is the last issue that bothers me.  When I spoke with the illegals, there was no doubt their love and loyalty belonged to their home country.  They might like it here, but they loved home, and I don’t blame them.   There are reports that when the economic down turn occurred the illegals here started going home, probably to live off the money they sent back for the last number of years.   They abandoned us.  Remember that.  They come here, take jobs, take money, take programs, and when it gets a little tough, take the shoe leather express BACK across the border.

And Graham wants to give them amnesty.

A bad idea.  Limited and registered and regulated immigration.  Make sure only the best comes here.  After all it is OUR home.
