Yep, he did it and he did it on national television.
Breitbart contacted the D.C. police and found that the chief of the department states “they are looking into” the fact Gregory may have violated the law. Gregory is now in a catch-22 position. He believes in gun control. Gun control includes magazine possession control of which he violated. The law doesn’t say you cannot possess a magazine unless you are doing a TV show trying to embarrass the head of the NRA. The law is clear- you can’t have one- period.
Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has confirmed that the department is looking into allegations that NBC’s David Gregory violated D.C.’s gun banning laws during a recent taping of Meet the Press.
In a discussion about gun control, host David Gregory brandished a 30-round magazine purportedly for an AR-15 or similar “assault rifle.” The discussion took place on December 23, during the broadcast of NBC’s Sunday morning political talk show.
Washington D.C.’s gun laws, however, state that even possessing such a device is a violation. Meet the Press is filmed at NBC’s D.C. studios.
The law in question is titled: DC High Capacity Ammunition Magazines – D.C. Official Code 7-2506.01, and reads (my bold):
(b) No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. For the purposes of this subsection, the term large capacity ammunition feeding device means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The term large capacity ammunition feeding device shall not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
Breitbart contacted the office of the police chief and asked if there were any plans to look into this apparent violation of the District’s gun laws. In response, Chief Lanier replied, “Yes, we are investigating the incident to determine if the magazine was in fact real.”
Oh, the old “it isn’t real” ploy heh? Sadly for Gregory it is real. I saw the video and the wear on the magazine is consistent with a real mag. So, now Gregory has a choice, he can admit he possessed a real magazine and go to jail. Or he can lie to the gun control advocates in D.C. and say it was a fake one. Which is what a normal gun owning person would do, lie to the authorities in order to maintain their 2nd amendment rights.
And all for a “gotcha” moment.
Let’s see if David Gregory has any ethics or principles. And one more thing, if he held it and he doesn’t own the magazine that means someone “transferred” it to his possession which means he has to rat out the other guy.
Sweet. Now David will get a taste of what it is like to be inside an authoritarian “Orwellian” society.
