Well, we made it through the conventions. In them we saw the RNC reluctant support of Trump, who spent the week having his friends and family tell America just how great he is, how bad the condition America is in, and oh, by the way, something about how he’d save the day… because of how great he is. Then he got on, and spent the next 78 minutes telling us the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, Trump didn’t lie- unlike HRC’s speech which consisted of things she didn’t do and avoid things she did wrong. Trump didn’t sugar coat the issues either- unlike HRC. And he said EXACTLY what most of us on THIS side of of America think. He is our “id”, as Rich Lowery said. However, just as soon has he delivered this decent, but darkish (yet accurate), assessment of America, he spent the next morning screwing with one of his defeated foes- Ted Cruz- only because Ted refused to bend his knee.
That’s not good. Why? Because as he is wandering off after another ADHD tangent, HRC is wobbling up to the podium and being polished up and presented to the public by the MSM and democrats. Instead of chasing the new enemy, Trump is wasting critical time stabbing an already deceased foe. Just dumb.
Then, for reasons unknown, Trump jumps in the middle of the DNC hacking case. He thinks, for no good reason, that the Russians did it, and then suggests if they have HRC’s emails they should let the MSM have them. Why???
The DNC and by extension, HRC was trying to cover up their complicit and corrupt effort to box out Bernie, and the Bernie supporters were livid. The DNC immediately claimed the Russians did it, even though there is no real proof, and then claimed victimhood by whining about espionage. It wasn’t going anywhere until idiot Trump rolled in! Now they are trying to hang a treason tag on him, and the low information voters with their two minute attention span may actually buy it! Dumb…. Just say, “If the Russians got those emails, they for sure got HRC’s State Department emails regardless of the Comey statements.” Then drop the mike and walk away. Trumpites, be aware this does not gander Trump voters from independents or low info voters.
Trumpites, who see everything Donald does as a brilliant move, have to admit that now that we’ve found out not only did the DNC get hacked, but HRC’s campaign was hacked and they REFUSED to cooperate with the FBI (again!), Trump should have just shut up and waited day to see how things panned out. Instead, he gave the MSM the brush to paint him as part of the treasonous actions by the Russians.
The FBI warned the Clinton campaign that it was a target of a cyberattack last March, just weeks before the Democratic National Committee discovered it had been penetrated by hackers it now believes were working for Russian intelligence, two sources who have been briefed on the matter told Yahoo News.
In a meeting with senior officials at the campaign’s Brooklyn headquarters, FBI agents laid out concerns that cyberhackers had used so-called spear-phishing emails as part of an attempt to penetrate the campaign’s computers, the sources said. One of the sources said agents conducting a national security investigation asked the Clinton campaign to turn over internal computer logs as well as the personal email addresses of senior campaign officials. But the campaign, through its lawyers, declined to provide the data, deciding that the FBI’s request for sensitive personal and campaign information data was too broad and intrusive, the source said.
Of course they did. A question nobody asked Comey is how did technically ignorant lawyers and politicians in HRC’s circle manage to delete the data so thoroughly that even the best FBI experts couldn’t recover it? And when did they do it, before or after the Congressional subpoenas? I ask this because it is now obvious they aren’t that stupid.
Andrew McCarthy comes to Trump’s defense. Yes, you didn’t hear wrong. McCarthy is defending Trump, or more precisely reminding people HRC is to blame here.
That the national security threat we are talking about today is Donald Trump rather than Hillary Clinton illustrates the wayward state of our politics.
Mrs. Clinton operated unlawful, amateurishly non-secure email servers and mishandled classified information – including the nation’s most closely guarded defense secrets, involving deep-cover informants and highly sensitive intelligence-gathering methods. She did these things in such a criminally reckless manner that it is virtually certain the ruthlessly adept Russian intelligence services (to say nothing of the Chinese, the Iranians, other sinister regimes, and cyber savvy jihadist organizations) have easily penetrated her communications and obtained our intelligence. In addition, though her emails were government records, she destroyed thousands of them.
Clinton has thus committed serious felony violations of federal law. These violations are flagrant betrayals of her public trust, the essence of high crimes and misdemeanors, the constitutional standard for impeachment.
Nevertheless, tonight, one of our country’s two major political parties will nominate her to be the next president of the United States. That is atrocious … yet the story dominating today’s news is not Mrs. Clinton’s criminal and impeachable offenses; it is whether Donald Trump is guilty of treason.
Yes, treason – it’s apparently okay to use the word now. It is a word Republicans and their fellow ruling class Democrats would heretofore condemn any national security-minded American for using to describe the aid and comfort President Obama has given to our Iranian enemy. It is a word we still dare not utter in connection with the Obama/Clinton embrace of anti-American Islamists. But Trump’s own lack of restraint has evidently licensed Trump critique as a restraint-free activity.
And what on this occasion makes Trump guilty of treason rather than all-too-familiar Trumpian bombast? It is claimed that he has encouraged a hostile nation, Vladimir Putin’s Russia, to conduct espionage against Mrs. Clinton for the purpose of influencing an American election.
This claim, it should be noted, comes from Democrats and Republicans who – it seems like only yesterday – have told us that Russia, far from being hostile, was our strategic partner. It comes from a Democratic nominee who, as secretary of state, enabled Russia to take control of one-fifth of the uranium production capacity of the United States while millions in relevant donations and speaking fees flowed to the Clinton Foundation and her husband. And as for the scourge of foreign influence on American elections, the money that came the Clintons’ way thanks to the Russian uranium deal is but a small fraction of the foreign “donations” that have poured into their “charitable” foundation – influence purchases from what donors hope will be the next Clinton administration.
The world is upside down.
No kidding. Maybe Trump’s brilliance is that he sees it is upside down. And because he’s a bit sideways anyway, his talent is his ability to operate in a reverse world.
However, if he loses, the Trumpites will have built excuses, none of which are that he’s a hot mess without focus.
If Trump loses in November–which isn’t a sure thing, of course–I think it’s pretty clear that we’ll see the following responses, in the following order, from his supporters:
(1) He didn’t lose.
(2) If he lost–and I’m not saying he did–then it was the fault of those cuck-traitor conservatives who aren’t real conservatives.
(3) He lost. It’s the Republican party’s fault. They didn’t do what they should have to support him because they’re a bunch of idiot losers. And now America is screwed.
(4) We always knew he would lose. And it’s a good thing because his candidacy destroyed a useless, feckless GOP. The political system is toast and deserves to get burned to the ground so we can start over.
(5) He meant to lose. He’s a businessman, not a politician, and he didn’t really want to be president anyway. His brand is worth a thousand times more now than it was in 2015. To him, this whole thing was just another amazing business deal.
(6) You think he “lost”? It’s the day after Hillary Clinton’s big “victory” and instead everyone is talking about Trump. He’s a genius.
(7) Trump knows that we’re guaranteed to have another recession and a major terrorist attack during the next four years. Hillary and Dems own that now so when he runs again in 2020, he’s going to take CA, NY, and NJ in a total realigning election. They’re playing checkers; Trump is playing 15-dimensional chess.
(8) Winning the White House was never the point. The point was taking over the Republican party. Trump owns the GOP now and all the people saying the party needs to go back to the Jeb Bush days need to gtfo. Trump is the Republican party from here on out.
(9) MAGA, bitches.
(10) If you think about it, Trump basically won
All that aside, I’m waiting for the next debate, where Trump says to HRC “You are corrupt and take bribes!” To which HRC says “That’s a lie!” And Trump responds “No it’s not! I paid you off! I have the cancelled check right here!”
We have left the sane world for sure.
