Listen, the FBI has been corrupted for a long time. They just pushed the narrative they were the ultimate good guys in a world of bad guys- “The premier law enforcement agency in the world.” The trouble with that it is filled with humans and humans are flawed. What keeps flawed humans from getting too far out of line is a set of standards that the agency demands be followed, and from time to “blood” has to be shed in the form agents and supervisors (and errant directors) being disciplined and removed.
The FBI and federal government demand that of local agencies and often inject themselves and their demands into local policing- all hoity-toity like. Yet, when THEY get caught lying, obstructing and flat out trying to change the laws to suit their political agenda it is all okay.
Mueller is one of those guys, and he’s in charge of an “investigation” that is really a political hit job. He can do what he wants, arrest who he wants, ruin who he wants to get to the bottom of…something nobody is sure of and everybody agrees is legal.
The end game is the removal of Trump, either by impeachment or by publicly discrediting him and making his reelection politically impossible. Here’s what I’d be tempted to do if I were President Trump: I’d direct the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate Iran’s efforts to acquire nuclear weapons, including any Obama-administration collusion in that enterprise. I would make sure to call it a “counterintelligence investigation,” putting no limitations on the special counsel — just as with the investigation that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been unleashed to conduct into Trump “collusion” with Russia. That is, I would not restrict the prosecutor and investigators to digging for specified criminal violations. Or, indeed, any criminal violations. I’d just tell the special counsel, “Have at it” — with unbound authority to scrutinize the negotiations surrounding the eventual Iran nuclear deal (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).
Would I really expect the special counsel to find that Obama officials conspired with the mullahs to obtain nukes for Tehran? No . . . but hey, as the “Trump collusion with Russia” crowd says, “You never know.” Meantime, under the guise of investigating this highly unlikely “collusion,” I’d want the special counsel to scrutinize closely any variances between what Obama-administration officials were telling Congress and the public about the negotiations and what they were telling the Iranians; to probe any side deals the administration agreed to but failed to disclose to Congress; and to consider whether any laws or policies were violated in such matters as President Obama’s payment of a cash ransom in exchange for American hostages held by Iran. Why would I do this? Well, because I disagree with Obama-administration foreign policy, of course. Under the Mueller “collusion” precedent, it is evidently now American practice to criminalize foreign-policy disputes under the pretext of conducting a counterintelligence investigation. It is difficult to come to any other conclusion based on the guilty plea that Mueller just pried out of Michael Flynn.
Read the whole thing. McCarthy is pissed because Flynn plead guilty for “lying to the FBI” – another process crime. Flynn is not the Russian agent. His crime is he dared challenge the Deep State and its desire to keep things the way they are by continuing the long dead “Cold War”. McCain, Graham, big defense, NATO bureaucrats, the military, and the intelligence community all want to keep getting paid a nice chunk of change by convincing the rest of the world of the threat of Russia. You can add Manafort to that group. (Oddly, Tony Podesta is also in that group but seems to be avoiding charges….so can we say favoritism and corruption inside the Mueller investigation?)
It was said several years ago that Russia is a giant gas station acting like a country (I paraphrase). If you look at everything they have done, from Eastern Europe to the Middle East, you see one constant- it’s about energy. Because it is energy that keeps the money coming in. The war in Syria is about creating land corridors between Iran and Syria and Russia to pipe natural gas into Europe. It’s…all…about…the…money!!
Heck the Uranium One payoffs and corruption is not about taking uranium from us to prevent us from using it, it is about cornering the market on raw uranium, then dumping it back onto the market thus cutting the prices and running off all the other mining companies. It is about cornering the market so THEY can set the prices down the line! It’s not about war or bombs, it is about the money! Which is why Clinton and Obama went along.
The difference between 2017 and say the 1980’s is that we have a million sources of information and people are more willing to say what they know. This is driving the deep state crazy! Because now, instead of being able to do their dirty work behind closed doors, they find themselves unable to keep any conspiracy, well a conspiracy. And me saying this is a huge leap from me a year ago when I DEFENDED Comey for coming out in his statement! My conspiracy friends were pushing me to convert, I resisted saying that no one and no group of people can be so corrupted as to do all the things my friend were accusing them of. And in truth, some conspiracies are so crazy they actually HELP the deep state keep the vast majority of people confused.
However, that said, there is definitely a conspiracy going on here. The establishment does not want Trump to succeed and more does not want a Trump like figure to EVER get in charge again! They want to pick the Presidents so they can control our information flow and how we live. People like Mueller are on board, Comey is on board, the media is on board, and so is about 99% of the rest of the government. It is so bad that an agent inside the FBI, who was in charge of the Clinton “investigation” and the Trump investigation, was texting his mistress, who also worked on the cases, how much they hated Trump and liked HRC. Worse (if it can be worse) the FBI covered up the IG discover and quietly reassigned them and lied to Congress about it. But now the question is HOW MUCH DAMAGE DID THEY DO??!!
House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has issued an angry demand to the FBI and Department of Justice to explain why they kept the committee in the dark over the reason Special Counsel Robert Mueller kicked a key supervising FBI agent off the Trump-Russia investigation.
Stories in both the Washington Post and New York Times on Saturday reported that Peter Strzok, who played a key role in the original FBI investigation into the Trump-Russia matter, and then a key role in Mueller’s investigation, and who earlier had played an equally critical role in the FBI’s Hillary Clinton email investigation, was reassigned out of the Mueller office because of anti-Trump texts he exchanged with a top FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having an extramarital affair. Strzok was transferred to the FBI’s human resources office — an obvious demotion — in July.
The Post reported that Strzok and Page exchanged text messages that “expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton.”
Word of the messages and the affair were news to Nunes, even though the committee had issued a subpoena that covered information about Strzok’s demotion more than three months ago. The committee’s broadly worded subpoena for information related to the so-called Trump dossier went to the FBI and DOJ on Aug. 24. In follow-up conversations on the scope of the subpoena, committee staff told the FBI and DOJ that it included information on the circumstances of Strzok’s reassignment.
On Oct. 11, Nunes met with deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein. In that meeting, Nunes specifically discussed the committee’s request for information about Strzok.
In an Oct. 31 committee staff meeting with the FBI, bureau officials refused a request for information about Strzok.
On Nov. 20, the committee again requested an interview with Strzok. (Three days earlier, on November 17, Strzok met with the Senate Intelligence Committee.)
On Nov. 29, Nunes again spoke to Rosenstein, and again discussed Strzok.
On Dec. 1, the committee again requested to speak with Strzok.
After each occasion, the FBI and DOJ did nothing. Now, in what appears to be an orchestrated leak, both the Post and Times published the reason for Strzok’s demotion, along with concerns that the revelation might help President Trump. “Among federal law enforcement officials, there is great concern that exposure of the texts they exchanged may be used by the president and his defenders to attack the credibility of the Mueller probe and the FBI more broadly,” the Post reported. The Times reported that “the existence of the text messages is likely to fuel claims by Mr. Trump that he is the target of a witch hunt.”
Well, yes. It will be of concern to Trump’s defenders, and to defenders of fair investigations generally, that such an important figure in both the Clinton and Trump probes privately expressed bias. It will be important for investigators — and the public — to see Strzok’s and Page’s texts to assess the extent of the problem. But in any event, Nunes is extremely unhappy — not only with the revelation of bias but with the FBI’s resistance.
“By hiding from Congress, and from the American people, documented political bias by a key FBI head investigator for both the Russia collusion probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI and DOJ engaged in a willful attempt to thwart Congress’ constitutional oversight responsibility,” Nunes said in a statement Saturday afternoon. “This is part of a months-long pattern by the DOJ and FBI of stonewalling and obstructing this committee’s oversight work, particularly oversight of their use of the Steele dossier. At this point, these agencies should be investigating themselves.”
To add insult to injury, at just the moment the leaked stories appeared, the Justice Department out of the blue notified Nunes that it would meet some of the committee’s demands for information that it had been refusing for months. That didn’t make the chairman happy, either.
“The DOJ has now expressed — on a Saturday, just hours after the press reports on Strzok’s dismissal appeared — a sudden willingness to comply with some of the committee’s long-standing demands,” Nunes said in the statement. “This attempted 11th-hour accommodation is neither credible nor believable, and in fact is yet another example of the DOJ’s disingenuousness and obstruction.”
Would you blame Trump if he went into the FBI and said, “You’re fired, you’re fired, you’re fired!” until his voice gave out? How in the hell are we supposed to trust anyone in government anymore?
An example of the bias in the establishment media look no further than CNN- which almost buried the bombshell- and the Hill.com website (an establishment site) that coddles the agent’s affair with the words.
The agent reportedly exchanged text messages with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, whom he was dating, during the campaign and Clinton investigation that appeared to support the Democratic presidential candidate, people with knowledge of the matter told The Washington Post.
Dating…I’m sure the wife probably has a different opinion on that…
Here’s a question. If Comey was looking to avoid charging Hillary for any felonies or misdemeanors she or her people did, and he needed a sympathetic FBI agent to do the “interviews” which would be designed NOT to trip her up like it did Flynn, would he pick Strzok? I would.
Victor Davis Hanson asks a question we should all be asking, regardless of your bias- who watches the watchmen? Imagine if there were no Republicans in Congress. NONE OF THIS would come to light! Imagine if HRC had won. Do you think Weinstein would be outed? Or that Comey’s lies or the Fusion GPS scandal would be known? Even with the Republicans in charge of all three branches the “bureaucracy” is still resisting revealing the truth. How hard is it to say whether or not the FISA court’s warrant affidavit asking to spy on an opposition party during in an election was based on a Hillary paid for, Fusion GPS created fake dossier which did in fact involve the Russians helping Hillary? I wrote hundreds and hundreds of warrants during my career. The FBI has a copy! Just pull the damn file and look.
(On that subject, IF Mueller pivots to that real Russian collusion and you see Simpson doing a perp walk, then I’ll review my opinion. Until then…)
What I’m betting is that the FBI know it did and this is all about trying to figure out how not to crash the system with the revelation and also how NOT to go to jail.
The only way the FBI could include what they knew or should have known was bad or fake evidence in the warrant request would be to act really stupid (kind of like HRC). They could get a Mikey type agent, who will write up anything, and then feed him this report third party by saying, “Agent Smith obtained information verifying that Trump in fact colluded with Russia.” Since Agent Mikey trusts Agent Smith, he can put that statement in with his affidavit and remove himself from being responsible for lying to the judge. The problem comes in when someone goes to talk with Agent Smith and HE has to lie and say he verified it. So, it’s all about hiding Agent Smith (who may go by the name of Strzok?). Because if Agent Smith did lie, then the next question is who told him to lie and then suddenly we may find Lynch or Comey quoting scripture from the upper bunk of a federal pen! Just dreaming, it will never happen.
The best bet here is that Mueller is going after Donald Jr or Kushner. That way Donald Sr will be forced with the same choice Flynn had, quit or watch his kids go to jail. Or Trump is so crippled he can’t lead.
(Which is what the Russians really wanted in the first place when they tried to play both sides prior to [by corrupting Hillary] and during [by reaching out to Donald Jr. Which by the way, was set up by Fusion GPS and Hillary as a trap] so that no matter who won, half the nation thinks it got ripped off.
That is quite monstrous if you think about it. And like Hanson, I think enough is enough and Mueller needs to have his lease pulled on…hard.
