DOJ and Rosenstein are slow walking documents to protect Rosenstein. He has to step aside.

For the love of God people, he is at least a witness and at most a suspect!

And yet, we wake up every day realizing that the bureaucracy runs the government, not the elected officials.  That should scare you if you are a liberal, a conservative or a flaming commie! It’s not like we haven’t seen this dance before.  Jeezzz guys enough! They WORK FOR YOU, cut off the funding and send them all packing if they do not comply.

After flouting the Thursday deadline for producing documents subpoenaed by the House Intelligence Committee related to the FISA surveillance of a member of the Trump campaign, the Department of Justice Friday sent a letter that appears to comply – barely, and in a back-handed manner.  CNN was the first to obtain the letter, which is copied below in its entirety.  This choice of vehicle for the leak likely means that the source is not favorable to Trump.  The letter is signed not even by a principal at the DOJ, but by a secretary on behalf of Stephen E. Boyd, deputy attorney general.

The cave-in is only partial.  Members of both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees will be able to see the FISA applications in their entirety, but only in a room at the Department of Justice, where the normal procedure is to forbid any notes or photographs being made of the classified documents.

A second concession is the speed-up of delivery of requested documents:

Separately, Justice Department spokesman Ian Prior said the department on Monday will supplement its document production to the House Judiciary Committee by producing another 1,000 pages of materials in response to a subpoena issued by committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte.

At this point, several members of Congress are asking quietly if they can remove Rosenstein. He could do more, he refuses. That’s wrong.  He gets fired.

Saturday, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) said that if Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein does not turn over the unredacted documents requested by Congress related to FISA, FBI and more then impeachment could be in order.

“Rod Rosenstein can call Michael Horowitz, who has the documents, and say just give them to Congress. If he doesn’t do that … there is a growing consensus of holding them in contempt of Congress, but it’s not enough to stop there. We have to have someone willing to do the job. If the deputy attorney general is not willing to do it and not willing to allow us to have our Constitutional Oversight Authority supported, then we’ll find someone who can,” said Meadows on Fox News Channel’s “Justice.”

Rosenstein is a bureaucrat who works within whatever system is paying him.  Ethics and morals are not strong suits for lawyers, and government lawyers appear to be the worst ones of the bunch when it comes to doing the right thing.   I get he’s pinched between the bad things he allowed to happen and the demand that those bad acts be exposed, but he did it to himself so I have no sympathy.

My curiosity revolves around whether or not he testified in front of the IG and what did he say?  We know he signed a FISA warrant, one that has been proven to be false.  So why did he do it? Who told him to? Did he question the validity? Did he know it was false?  Any one of these question throws him into the witness/suspect category.  It would be like a police officer involved in a shooting doing the investigation about that shooting!  It might be a good shoot, but nobody is going to believe that because of how the investigation is being conducted.

He may be a good guy just trying to do his job inside a system that is corrupt. He may not be alone, but that doesn’t matter. He has to go. If Sessions is tainted Rosenstein is neck deep in stinky, corrupt, dead animal smelling taint!
